Party Mix

Katelyn (5th grade) and her best friend and cousin, Courtney, did a project together on Canada and they had to do a hands-on activity so they chose to make this snack mix for the class.  I have no idea how this relates to Canada but I love the sweet and salty mixture!

2 bags Bugles
1 box Crispix
1 3/4 cups mixed nuts
2 1/3 cups brown sugar
2/3 cup butter or margarine
1 cup corn syrup
2 t. vanilla

Boil the last 4 ingredients for 5 minutes.  Mix the Bugles, Crispix, and nuts in a large roaster and drizzle caramel mixture over all.  Mix well.  Bake 1 hour at 225*, stirring very gently every 15 minutes.  When finished baking, pour mixture onto 2 large cookie sheets and stir gently until cool enough to stay separated.
